Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness class. It fuses red-hot Latin rhythms with easy to follow steps to create a fun, dynamic work out. Zumba is an exhilarating, unique way to exercise. If you like to get your sweat on, but hate the monotony of the gym, then Zumba is for you! Working out and having fun are not mutually exclusive activities, so… ditch the routine and join the party!zumbafinalclips-still001

Basic Information About Our Zumba Program
  • Both our Charlottesville and Harrisonburg studios offer Zumba classes
  • A drop in class is $10. You may also purchase a 10-class punch card for $80.
  • Zumba classes do not build upon one another, so you can drop in at any time! We do not have a formal ‘session’ as with other studio programs.
  • Wear clothes that you feel comfortable working out in – t-shirts, sweats, dance or yoga pants, tank tops – anything that allows you to move!
  • Please wear shoes that give your feet and knees solid support. Dance sneakers or aerobics shoes are great for Zumba; well-known brands of dance sneakers include Capezio, Sancha and Blochs.
  • If you are new, please arrive about ten minutes early to sign in, complete a waiver and acquaint yourself with the studio.

Despite being very challenging couple to teach, you did us proud, and on the day it actually went quite well. —

It’s been awhile since I last exercised and I’m out of shape. I’m worried that I won’t be able to make it through a Zumba class.
The steps in Zumba can be easily tailored to suit your body and your abilities. By tweaking moves and adjusting your level of energy and exertion, you can modify your workout to an intensity and impact that works for you!
What’s so special about the Latin music, anyway? I thought that salsa was just something you ate.
Zumba does not use the conventional, synthesized, 32 count, monotonous beats of the fitness industry. Zumba uses real music – music that gives our classes passion, flavor and attitude! The music is the driving force of our class, not just a means to keep a beat.

At the studio, we incorporate many Latin rhythms into our Zumba classes including salsa, merengue, cha cha, cumbia, samba, reggaeton and bachata. We also add a little spice to class with hot styles of dance like hip hop and belly dance.

Thank you so much for all your help! The first dance at our wedding turned out great. We received lots of compliments.. —

I have two left feet and a lifelong fear of dance floors. I’m really nervous that I’m going to stumble through the entire hour.
Don’t worry – you do NOT need to be a dancer to Zumba! Absolutely no experience is necessary. The routines that we do are easy to follow, non-technical and FUN. Plus, there is no wrong way to Zumba! It is all about having a great time and moving the way that your body likes to move. Songs are often repeated over a number of classes, so you will find that you pick up the routines the more often that you come to class.

Will Zumba help me lose weight and tone up?
Yes! If you come to class regularly, you will start to notice a difference in your figure. Zumba offers a great aerobic workout, leading to high caloric expenditure. Zumba helps to tighten your core as well as sculpt your legs and arms.
